Our Horses
Here at Missouri Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue and Sanctuary, we believe that every horse should be loved and valued. We have horses that are ridable that are available for adoption, as well as non-ridable horses that can fill the much needed job of "companion," acting as friends for other horses. Companion horses are available for adoption or foster. We also have horses that are permanent residents of the Sanctuary that you can sponsor.
Adoptable Horses
Our adoption process is comprehensive and designed to assure the best possible match between horses and adopters. Horsemanship skills, level of training, inherent personality, and the ability to properly care for a horse are all considered.
To adopt a MFMN horse, you need to complete and submit the adoption application, and go through the approval process. We'll schedule a time when you can come meet the horse, and observe your interactions with the horse, including riding if the horse is trained to do so. We want to make sure that you are a good fit for the horse, and that the horse is comfortable with you as well.
Permanent Residents
Permanent Resident horses generally cannot be adopted, due to age, illness or injury. They will live out their natural lives, as long as they can be treated to alleviate any suffering. When they let us know that is is time to say goodbye, they are humanely euthanized by a veterinarian. Becuse these horses are often with us for many years, they become dear to our hearts. They enjoy being petted and loved on by the the volunteers. These horses could use a sponsor. Will you help?
